How does google penalize for duplicate content

Hi there

I was wondering...If I have a site that has many pages iin the SERP's and is doing very well, and I added a page with content that was duplicated from another site.

How will google penalise me...By penalizing all my pages from the SERPS. Or maybe penalize my domain or just penalize the page with the duplicated content.

The reason why Im asking is my domain is in and out of the SERPS daily for its main keyword and I was wondering if it could be because of some internal pages that has content that was given to me by my client but I've seen this content elsewhere on the net.

Could this duplicated content of my internal pages affect the my domain name or is it only the page in questioning that takes the blow for it.

Google penalize sites for duplicate content. There are actually two different types of duplicate content in sites. One is the internal duplication and other one is the duplicate content in a site that is taken from other sites. Internal duplication occurs when the same page is accessed by more than just one URL. External duplication is simply copying other people stuff in your site.

Google hate to see content in a site that is being stolen from other sites. And penalizes the sites exteremaly for doing such thing. On the other hand, internal duplication is also bad, but you are not penalized as bad as sites with stolen content.

Duplicate content will do nothing for your SEO. It will also do not for your online credibility and there is a very good chance that eventually you will get a slap from Google.

My main reasons for researching this is that I use WordPress sites a lot and it by its very nature is a creature that likes to produce a lot of duplicate content. For instance if you create a post it will be duplicated by the WordPress system in areas like individual post, categories, tags, and archives all of which can get picked up individually unless told otherwise via robots text, on the search engines including Google.

Main reasons of penalizing the sites by Google is Duplicate contents.Duplicate content is the first and main reason of Google penalty and second one is low quality back links and generating back links from irrelevant sites.So stop stealing the contents from other sites.Try to write high quality and relevant content for your site and also try to generate back links from high PR and relevant sites.This will help you to achieve best ranking in the Google.
